This year was a little different... The Pie & Pint has traditionally been a showcase of the latest and greatest that Ability have to offer. However, given the number of game-changing developments currently in progress, we’re going to hold a bigger event in 2018 to present this next generation of Fan Coil Units and Control systems.

The exact dates will be posted as soon as they are known...

World Projects

New Zealand - Focus on Clima

Clima NZ (New Zealand) have been Ability partners since 2011. Since then, Clima's Gordon Baxter and Rob Van Zoggel have established an excellent understanding of the Ability Matrix products and have been very successful with some 'landmark' projects under their belts already. These include:

  • TPK House, Wellington
  • Rotorua Police Station
  • 130 Ponsonby Road, Auckland
  • Canterbury District Health Board premises, Parkside, Canterbury
  • Waiariki Polytechnic
  • Te Awhina
  • BECA Offices - Christchurch

The first and last projects on the list are both interesting for different reasons.

TPK house - Te Puni Kōkiri (TPK) is the Ministry for Māori Development which leads Māori Public Policy and advises on policy affecting Māori wellbeing. They occupy 143 Lambton Quay in Wellington, a property owned by Argosy property Ltd.

This historic building was originally the State Insurance Building. Constructed circa 1942 and situated on the corner of Lambton Quay and Stout Street, the building has a Category 1 Historic Places Trust classification. The property is adjacent to TSB Bank Tower and both properties fill the Lambton Quay frontage for this city block. The building underwent a major upgrade and refurbishment in 1998, including the construction of an additional three levels to the original 10 and the excavation of the basement area to provide 17 car parks.

TPK house utilises 160 Ability Matrix Fan Coil Units including Delta Controllers and Belimo PICC valves.

Fan Coils NZ TPK Clima

BECA Offices. While only a single fan coil, this energy efficient unit was delivered and installed in one of the meeting areas of the BECA Consultancy in Christchurch. The idea is that BECA now have a working sample of this Ability Matrix (low SFP) fan coil so that any prospective user of the Matrix fan coil, possibly involved in the Christchurch rebuild, can see a working example of Matrix and what it can do. If you are a 'prospective user', then contact Clima NZ and they will be happy to make all the arrangements.
